Hey Guys,

Movie time again this week and this time it's 'Prince of Persia-Sands of Time'! I have never played the game but any movie with Jake in it is good...he is one hot man...;P

Anyway, Prince of Persia: The Sands of Time..If you're thinking that this is another cheesy video game based movie, think again! As much as being based on a major video game makes a movie widely anticipated, it also makes the audience very hesitant towards going to see it. This one may not be perfect but it's a win for your money. At least this is not another "Street Fighter" or "Max Payne".

The Sands of Time or the first of The Prince of Persia series gives us the Genesis of Dastan (Jake Gyllenhaal), your favourite video game Prince, the story of how he is adopted by the good king of Persia and how he becomes a part of the royal family of one of the biggest kingdoms of the world. The story goes on to tell us about Dastan's brothers making the decision to invade the Holy City of Alamut in which Dastan joins hands with Princess Tamina for a dark race against evil forces to protect an ancient dagger that has the power of releasing the Sands of Time.

The good thing about The Sands of Time is that all aspects of moving making behind the lens come together to put on a good show. Cinematography and Art Direction play some of the biggest roles in this picture. The shooting angles and the set decoration make it all so vivid and so real. There are times in the movie where you think you're in the game itself, that you're moving Dastan, as he jumps from one roof top to the other, with your own hands. For all this to happen, you have to have Oscar winning cinematographer John Seale directing those cameras, the man behind photography of "The English Patient", "City of Angels" and "Cold Mountain".

About the acting, I have to say it was average except for Alfred Molina who portrays the character of Sheikh Amar, a desert con man who runs ostrich races. Not only does Molina excel in every line of his role, he also plays lead in the comic relief side of the story. Molina gives you the laugh you need every now then between sword fighting and knife throwing scenes. No wonder he's become the top story of every critic's review about this movie since it was released.

But regarding the role of Princess Tamina, let's just say it was very unfortunate for that Iranian actress who was planned to play it to get arrested before the shooting, because as far as I can see it; Gemma Arterton has made the princess of the, supposedly Holy City, look like a sorority girl.

But all in all, it is an enjoyable film and certianly one to watch...

Hey guys,

It's that time of the week again where we do some cooking! This week on Selena's Kitchen Rules we are making Chicken Curry!!! This recipe is a favourite but I always somehow seem to stuff it up in some way...maybe I should leave it to my aunties who know how to cook Chicken Curry way better than I do...

Anyway, let's get crackin'!

You will need:

1 tbs vegetable oil
1kg chicken thigh fillets, trimmed, roughly chopped
1 large onion, cut into thin wedges
2 cloves garlic, crushed
1 tbs Malaysian curry paste
250ml can satay sauce
140ml can coconut milk
1 tbs crunchy peanut butter
1 tbs fruit chutney
Coriander leaves, to garnish
Steamed rice to serve

The instructions are:

1. Heat oil in a large non-stick pan or wok. Add chicken, onion, garlic and curry paste and stir-fry, until chicken is browned.
2. Add satay sauce, coconut milk, peanut butter and chutney and mix to combine. Simmer, uncovered, for about 15 minutes, or until chicken is tender and sauce has reduced and thickened. Sprinkle with coriander and serve with rice.

Quick, easy, simple...and yummy...
And now for desert! This week, it's Apple Berry Crumble! I made it for my mother's birthday (prepackage...I know...shame...but Yum...) but since it was packaged, I wonder what the real thing looks like...and if it would taste even more yummy...so I experimented (in other words, looked it up and invented my own ingrediants....and is that how you spell?) and voila!

You will need:

6 Granny Smith apples, peeled, cores removed
1/4 cup caster sugar
250g punnet strawberries, hulled, sliced
2 cups Creative Gourmet frozen mixed berries
60g butter, chilled, cubed
1/2 cup self-raising flour
3/4 cup rolled oats
1/3 cup brown sugar
1/2 cup fresh breadcrumbs
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
1 tablespoon honey
cream, to serve

Instructions are:

1.Preheat oven to 180°C. Lightly grease a 6-cup capacity ovenproof dish.
2.Thinly slice apples and place into a saucepan over medium heat. Add caster sugar. Stir until sugar dissolves. Cover. Cook for 5 minutes, or until apples are just tender but still hold their shape. Remove from heat. Stir in berries. Spoon mixture into ovenproof dish.
3. Rub butter into flour until it resembles coarse breadcrumbs. Stir in oats, brown sugar, breadcrumbs, cinnamon and honey. Spoon crumble over fruit. Bake for 25 to 30 minutes, or until crumble is golden. Serve with cream...
There you are...simple, yummy and kinda nutritious...sorta...Anyway, until next blog,
Cheers From Australia...

Today, the 28th of May is my little baby sister, Shailee's birthday. 9 years ago today, she was born and I became a big sis!

I love my sister, as she is a drama queen like me, but she also has a kind soul and a good one at that. Since she lives in Darwin and I live in Cairns, it's being away from her and I miss her so much. But once I get a job, I'm going to start saving money like crazy so that I can see her and my other siblings, Seth and Kane...I miss all my babies :(

But this blog is for her, so let's all say Happy Birthday to my sister!

Also, it is my mum's birthday this weekend too! On Sunday the 30th, my mum will be turning 44 and she is still looking good! I love my mum...she is da best!

So this blog is also for her....let's say Happy Birthday for Mum!

And that's all for now....

Vanessa Redgrave is awesome in "Letters to Juliet". She rocks. She plays Claire, who in her own words is sorry for being a "such a coward" for not following heart, and being with her true love Lorenzo—over 50 years ago in Tuscany. Her performance is literally in her steel blue eyes—it is just who she is being—no conscience acting here. I think Redgrave gets a nomination in this very charming, heartfelt, and predictable romantic comedy. She embodies the kind of emotional gravitas and humanity that John Gielgud did in "Arthur".

Beautiful and spirited Amanda Seyfried plays Sophie "The New Yorker" fact checker and wannabe writer, who accompanies Claire and her grandson Charlie (wonderfully played by Christopher Egan) to find her lost love in Tuscany. The story by Jose Rivera and Tim Sullivan is whimsical, funny, and entirely telegraphed from miles away. When Sophie (Seyfried) and Charlie (Egan) first meet it is annoyance at first sight. In fact Charlie points out that he had never heard anyone use "awesome" and "oh my God" in the same sentence. Of course they are destined to fall in love. Director Gary Winick orchestrates beautifully—he knows his material and has faith in his actors.

Here it is all about the journey of Claire, Sophie, and Charlie to reclaim the one true love from the past, and the present. The road is hysterical and touchingly bitter sweet. At the narrative catharsis, Redgrave's Claire tells Charlie, because she can, "Don't be a total idiot." She reminds her grandson, "How many Sophie's do you think are on this planet. Don't wait 50 years to follow your heart."

In "Letters to Juliet" Sophie goes on a pre-honeymoon trip with her fiancé restaurateur and chef Victor (handsome and mercurial Gael Garcia Bernal). Turns out this is more of a business trip for Victor as he prepares for the opening of his new restaurant in New York. Sophie is passionate about her writing, and Victor is passionate about cooking and food. However, neither the twain shall meet. There is a great scene with Seyfried and Redgrave where Claire inquires, "So tell me about this guy you're in love with?" Victor is a great guy, but perhaps not the guy.

While in Verona, Sophie discovers and partners with the Secretaries of Juliet. They are the group of women who write letters back to the heart broken women, who travel from around the world to leave their letters to Juliet at the famous balcony wall from Shakespeare's play. Sophie finds Claire's letter hidden in the wall from 1957. Sophie is compelled to write back. Thus, the journey begins to find lost soul mates.

Amanda Seyfried and Christopher Egan have great souls, and that comes across the screen. Egan's Charlie is really not what he appears at first. Charlie is very protective of his Grand (Redgrave)—she raised him into the solid man he is, after his parents died in a car accident when he was 10 years old. Sophie's family was also broken when she was very young. In a powerful scene Charlie tells Sophie she has no idea about "real loss". Claire pauses and quietly tells Charlie, "You're wrong…" Later there is a moving scene where Claire comforts Sophie as she motherly brushes her hair. The chemistry of Seyfried, Redgrave, and Egan is natural, funny, and touching.

Movie magic occurs when Claire finds her Lorenzo (still dashing and handsome Franco Nero) in the vineyard under the spectacular Tuscan sun. Amazing. Cinematographer Marco Pontecorvo brilliantly captures the light and life of Verona and the Tuscan country side. I now want to travel to Italy. Then even more magic occurs when Charlie and Sophie realise that they love each other but think that they can't be together.

"Letters to Juliet" uses a clumsy narrative deflect toward the end, but all is forgiven-- true love prevails. "Letters to Juliet" is about having the courage to follow your heart in love and in life.

Truly recommend this movie...it is lovley, romantic and sweet. If you need your fix of romance, this is the movie to watch.

It's Masterchef time! This week on Masterchef, the contestants are in Melbourne, the food capital of Australia and for the first time in this series someone has won the Celebrity Cook-Off Challange! Congrats to Marion..

This week I am making Enchiladas...so yummy and it is hard but simple....Let's begin...

You will need:

2 chicken breast fillets, poached and shredded
2 shallots, finely chopped
2 cups (160g) grated cheddar cheese
Salt & freshly ground pepper
1/4 cup peanut oil
8 (13-14cm) corn tortillas
1 x 400g can whole peeled tomatoes
1/4 cup coriander leaves
1 large green chilli
1 garlic clove, crushed
1 tbs pouring cream

Prep/Cooking time: 20/40 mins

Instructions:

1. Preheat oven to 190°C. Combine chicken with shallots, half the cheese and season with salt and pepper.

2. Heat oil in a small frying pan over a medium heat. Cook tortillas for 5 seconds on each side or until golden. Drain on paper towel. Divide chicken mixture between the tortillas and roll up tightly. Place seam side down in a 19cm x 27cm ovenproof dish.

3. Place tomatoes, coriander leaves, chilli, garlic, cream into a food processor and process until smooth. Pour over enchiladas and sprinkle with remaining cheese. Bake for 20-25 minutes or until cheese is golden and sauce is bubbling. Place 2 enchiladas on each plate and serve with dishes of sour cream, avocado and Mexican salsa.

Yummy!!! And now, for desert....something simple...Waffles with Ice-cream and white chocolate sauce...*drools*

You will need:

80g (1/2 cup) white chocolate melts (Nestle brand)
2 tbs warm water
4 frozen waffles
8 scoops (about 50g each) 98 per cent fat-free chocolate
ice-cream (Bulla brand)

Instructions:

1. Place the chocolate melts in a small heatproof bowl over a small saucepan half-filled with simmering water (make sure the bowl doesn't touch the water). Use a metal spoon to stir until the chocolate melts and is smooth. Remove from heat. Add the warm water and stir until smooth.

2. Cook the waffles in a toaster following packet directions. Divide among serving plates. Top each waffle with 2 scoops of chocolate ice-cream and drizzle with white chocolate sauce. Leftovers: Use the chocolate melts in cakes and slices. Use the waffles topped with fresh banana and vanilla ice-cream. Use the chocolate ice-cream in thick shakes.

Enjoy, dear readers and Happy Eating!!!

Cheers From Australia...

G'day readers!

Sorry I haven't posted in awhile but I've been busy typing my chapters for my stories...Check them out at fanfiction.net and I am under the pen-name blackNdeadly...

Okay, so what's been happening...well a lot...a lot on TV and at the movies that is...Tomorrow I am soing to go and see 'Letters to Juliet' and I can' wait! I have been looking foward to seeing this movie ever since I saw the preview for it plus it has Chris Egan in it and I remember Chris... he use to be a Home&Away hottie then for some reason her left...I think to pursue Hollywood, but all us Aussie girls loved him...but I'm sure I'll be happy to see him in L2J...can't wait.

'True Blood' season two came out on DVD last week and I can't wait to buy my copy. I have to put it on layby but soon it will be in my hands. Another DVD that came out these past for weeks Heath Ledger's last and final movie. The whole of Australia was shocked when we found out that an Aussie icon passed. The movie was weird, but to all Heath fans out there, it'll be worth watching.

The Bones finale is coming soon and from what I've read on the internet and watched on YouTube, it's not looking great but I am a Bones fan no matter what...that last episode, the witchy episode was lovely...Angela and Hodgins are married! I can proudly say that I am a Bonesaholic...here's a pic...

Hopefully, after the finale is finished, the show producers bring our favourite characters together and maybe leave it at that...I think fans have waited long enough...heck every bones fan writes a fanfic of them getting together!

Another thing that has started this week is the State of Origin! Let's go da Maroons!!! For those of you who don't know what SoO is, is a a NRL footy game that is loved, adored and makes everyone crazy here is Australia...you haven't lived until you've been to a SoO game...a quote...

"We know what Maroon means and its not the colour, we know who JT is and he's not a singer, we know what the State of Origin is and it is no government plan...we know how to yell and we don't say pretty words either...who are we? We are Queenslanders bitches and fuck do we rock! Let's go the Maroons!!"

A true Maroon fan...I am nuts about my footy...

Well, that's all that's been happening...right now I am watching Gossip Girl...I like the show but it can be confusing at times and very dramatic....

Next Blog will be recipes!!

Until then,

Cheers from Australia

Hi,

This weekend has been a boring one...nothing much happened. But Mum is going on her holiday soon...and I'll be spending some time with my other family for a little while
I was browsing the net last night and I looked up recipes and I decided to make chicken for dinner. I love chicken, not because it's nice but because chicken is good for you. Although it is expensive, chicken is vital to your health and if filled with good ingredients.

The recipe is Barbie Chicken Wings (Barbie means barbeque) and they are fairly easy to make for a party or you have a bunch of mates over or just for the comfort of your own home, like me. The ingredients that you will need are as follow:

16 (about 600g) chicken drumettes
60ml (1/4 cup) bourbon whiskey
60ml (1/4 cup) honey
2 tsp sweet paprika
2 garlic cloves, crushed

Plus, before or while you're cooking the chicken, start cooking some steamed Jasmine Rice, just enough for you or your guests etc... That way you'll have a side dish with the chicken! You can also prepare the chicken during the day and when you start to cook the dinner, just pop it into the oven!

Anyway, to make the chicken, instructions are as follow:

1. Place the chicken in an ovenproof baking dish. Combine bourbon, honey, paprika and garlic in a jug. Pour bourbon mixture over chicken and toss to coat. Cover with plastic wrap and place in the fridge for 3 hours to develop the flavours.

2. Preheat oven to 200°C. Bake chicken in preheated oven, turning occasionally, for 30 minutes or until golden brown and cooked through. Remove from oven.

3.Spoon rice among serving bowls. Top with chicken and serve immediately

Other notes to remember: If you don't want the alcohol, change it to soy sauce or terriaki, if you like...somtimes the mixture doesn't work if it has alcohol in, depending on how much you put it. You may choose to use a little....A lot of the bouborn will make the mixture a bit sour...

That's dinner, now dessert!! I love chocolate and I also love cupcakes...But I am a master at making desserts...I also love experimenting and making different kinds of desserts...

This dessert is called Tolberone Sponge Cake

You will Need:

1 1/2 cup of cream
2x250g packet of Sponge Biscuits
1x100g chocolate bar of Tolberone
1 cup of chocolate milk-Breaka's or any other kind

Instuctions:

1. Whisk the cream with a handbeater or by hand to make it into whipped/dolloped kind of cream.

2. Dip half the sponge biscuits in to the chocolate milk, allowing them to soak and absorb the chocolate milk. Then lay them on a large plate.

3. Spread cream on top of the biscuits, then dip more biscuits into the milk and add them on top of the cream.

4. Add more cream on top, making into a layer cake (see picture for reference)

5. Place into fridge for about half an hour, letting the cake to set and become firm.

6. Before serving, grate the tolberone chocolate and sprinkle on top or if you don't want that, cinnamon sugar or flavroured Cadbury chocolate can be great alternatives.

That is all for now...tommorrow I post thoughts and such..now it is time to watch MasterChef and Bones!

Love the Black Drama Queen...

Hi Readers,

From now on, I will be starting a dairy that has thoughts, poems, songs, reviews, different things that is on my mind. I will try to post everyday but maybe take a break every now and then.

Well, first things first, I am 20 years old, and I weigh around 140 kgs...I don't know how much that is in pounds but I am guessing a lot.

I have always had trouble with my body and my weight. Growing up, I would turn to food as my family life was a little complicated.

My father was in the Army and was treated like shit. I can remember the anger he felt and how his past life haunted him. Don't get me wrong, I love my father but every now and then I wonder if his life in the army made him not capable to love me. He would keep to himself and he would show no signs indicating that he did.

I know that some people reading this might go "Oh you poor little girl, grow up!" but there are many teenagers, kids, young adults...people that don't know if their parents love them or not. I know that my dad is capable of loving, he's got three other kids whom I adore but I still wonder if he still loves me too.

Since I thought that my father was incapable of loving, which I don't anymore because I know that he does (I still wonder though) but at the time, I turned to food and basically became a bitch. As I grew older, I also grew bigger in size until now, I became well overweight.

But from now on, I am going to start losing it. I know that many people say this but for me, I have to. I have three siblings, one sister and two brothers and I know that I want t be in there livesa and the way I am going now, I will be dead. But I don't want that and so, I am making a goal to 70 kgs and then audition for NIDA, which is the National Institute for Dramaitc Arts, which is a college in Sydney, Australia and only the known actors have gone. People such as Cat Blanchett and Greogory Rush attended there and it is my dream to become the first Aboriginal/hearing impaired actress to win an Oscar...

It is good to have a dream...It allows you to focus on something good and lets you have peace from all the bad memories. I have a lot of dreams; to be an actress, a writer, to have a published novel, to be a singer and to be thin and healthy. I don't care about my looks, but I do care about being healthy and that is why I'm going to lose weight.

I just have to find that will power and cut out all my favourite foods in my life. I love cooking and so maybe trying new recipes and posting them will help me on my path to a healthier me.

I need to do this...I want to be in the brothers and sister's life and I am killing myself, eating everyday and not doing anything about it.

Maybe posting a blog and telling the world about my day will help me be inspired. I truly hope so...

Also, it is good to have a blog...it let's you take things off your mind...

Anyway, I hope you, the readers, can join me as I post blogs and tell the world about my day, my feelings, the various poems/stories I write...

Please fell free to comment and if you have any recipes, do tell. I really do love cooking and I am willing to try anything!

Until next Blog, Cheers from Australia

Hi readers,

This weekend is Mother's Day and to those mothers, grandmothers and guardians out there, Happy Mother's Day and I hope that your kids spoil you on the day. I have already brought my mum a pressie and this blog is dedicated to her.

Let me tell you a bit about my mum. Her name is Sharon and she is brilliant. While I was growing up, I saw the things that she had to sacrifice in order to look after me. I have to admit that I was a bitch when I was younger and being one put a lot of stress on her. I guess that she outs up with me because she loves me.

My mother has been through a lot, and she still manages to come out on top. She truly is a one of a kind and I really do love her, though I don't tell her everyday but she knows.

I also have a stepmum and she is really brilliant. He name is Tracy and she grew up in Darwin. Tracy is aboriginal and she has been through so much. But she always manages to stay strong

When my brother Kane was born, she went through so many complications but I am happy to say that she is healthy and my baby bro is a bouncing 31/2 month baby, with a really cute smile.
Both of my mums means so much to me and so this blog is dedicated to them. Readers, treat your mum specail this week and for those readers whose mother is in heaven or gone, think of them. Mothers are truly specail and although there are some mothers out there who are neglecting, abusive and such, there are still mothers who care,

Until next Blog, Cheers From Australia
